In this episode, your host Zach Beach interviews coach, podcast host, writer, and educator Finn Deerhart on Finding Inquiry, Meaning, and Purpose Through Sex.

Learn more about your guest below:

Finn was born into a strict, Southern, religious home as a minister’s son and became a minister when he was 19 years old. He had a mission, but a message that was not his own. It took many years to come out of the closet as a gay man, and even more years after that to begin the process of unraveling his core identity in order to rebuild himself authentically. He has struggled and triumphed in many ways because of the significant guides and teachers he has encountered along his journey.

Now, sex and relationships are the lenses through which he is examining his own life, how he interacts with his own deepest wounds, and how his personal vulnerabilities relate to his culture as a whole. Deeper intimacy with himself is guiding him into healthy relationships and exciting sex that reflects his personal quest for wholeness. Though he is no longer a formal minister, he cares very deeply about how we hold space for healing within ourselves and for others who need connection.

When it comes to relationships, he believes that many of us are working against strong conditioning and faulty templates. He believes that we need help in addressing the challenges that we face in relationships. As we release blame and get really honest with ourselves, healing can occur.

Transformation requires patience, practice, and a holistic understanding of the individual and relational challenges that we may be facing. As we uncover our personal truths, we also contribute to the collective healing for us all. Finn brings 14 years of combined experience in social anthropology, wellness coaching, spiritual counseling, sex and intimacy coaching, and personal development to his client and couples practice. He is a staffed practitioner for the Queer Couples Center in San Francisco.

Additionally, he is a writer of educational erotic content and onsite coach for Himeros TV, a subscription-based online service providing explicit content for queer men looking to find meaning in eroticism, strengthen erotic skills, and create a sense of loving, erotic, community with other men.

He is a weekly cohost for the Himeros Live Podcast, discussing Himeros film releases, personal journeys of cohosts and guests, and answering questions about sex and relationships from the public.
