What we want to do is really find effective and efficient ways to bring up concerns that draws your partner close, and show up for each other in difficult moments. It’s all about how to communicate in a way that is not guarded and defensive.

– Jennine Estes Powell, LMFT

We have a saying in therapy: safety is sexy. Because if we don’t feel safe with our partners, we’re not going ot be be able to show up in the vulnerbale ways that research says creates healthy, happy connections. If it’s not safe to unzip ourselves and show our softest parters, it’s going to be hard to have that emotional connection.

– Jacqueline Wielick, LMFT
