I would love to see our culture shift to there being a wide variety of ways that we celebrate people, the milestones in their life, and their choices in how they want to have love show up in their life.

Because we start with this default that everyone should want to be in a life long partnership, to be monogamous parents, and to want to have children. Which puts so much pressure on all of us to go after these things, rather than to be true to ourselves and think about what we really want.

And a lot of people who are stuck do not want compulsory monogamy, heterosexuality, or parenthood, and that’s ok. We should have the freedom that comes from understanding ourselves and exploring our desires without judgement or shame.
